Mason Clark was the daughter of a recognized Chickasaw citizen along with her brother and they included that information in their application for land allotments in the Chickasaw Nation. It is not clear if they submitted a “Petition to Transfer” themselves and their children as “Chickasaw by blood” but their story is documented and preserved for their descendants to continue to research and discover the truth about their family history.

The record does reflect that when Samuel and Mason applied for their land allotments they made it clear their parents Lina and Isom “were married according to the Indian custom” which meant they “lived together as man and wife for many years, and up to the time of the death of his father just after the War.”

An article was written about this family in the blog Bettie’s List (October 03, 2017) which can be found at the following site:  https://bettieslist.blogspot.com/search?q=mason+clark
